One of the smartest ways to donate is through a matching gift program, where a company or individual will match your donations to charitable organizations. These matches are often dollar for dollar—or more—which can double your charitable-donation power. At NC State, gift credit is given to both the donor and the company when a matching gift is received, meaning that both the charity and the donor benefit.
Online donations can be made through the Annual Giving online form. When allocating your gift, be sure to select Park Scholarship - Study Abroad Fund from the pull-down menu.
Check with your company's human resources or payroll department to see whether it offers a matching gift program. You can also search NC State's matching gift database for information on whether your company has a known matching gift program.
If your company does offer matching gifts, ask for donation guidelines. While most companies will match gifts to universities or for educational initiatives, many have restrictions on what makes a gift eligible. Be sure to read through the guidelines and ask if you have specific questions.
In most instances, you will have to submit a request for a matching gift through an online site, or include a form from your company with your initial donation. After those steps, NC State and your company will take care of the rest. Make sure you fill out the appropriate forms (online or on paper) to ensure that the match is donated.
